Tuesday’s Daily Bread - A Tug on Our Sleeve

Scripture

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

-Psalm 31:24

The Word

We are coming into a time when increasing levels of peace will occur in our nation contrary to what some are saying. To arrive at that peaceful place, we will go through trying times to get there as lies and deception are exposed that would hinder that peace.

An example of what will take place was expressed by the prophet Zechariah. He said when God’s peace is revealed old people will be able to walk safely on our streets. Children will be able to play outside feeling safe and secure.

God's peace will seem impossible to some, “All this may seem impossible to you now, a small remnant of God’s people. But is it impossible for me?” (Zechariah 8:6).

People will see God’s justice and mercy at work, “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly and show mercy and kindness to one another” (Zechariah 7:9). The Church will become living examples of the heart of God on our streets and throughout our nation.

Before that time of peace arrives, trying times will come when the Lord uses the Church to confront individuals and institutions that rob a nation of its peace. As the will of God becomes more obvious and begins to manifest on our streets, we will feel a tug on our sleeve. Those who have seen God do the impossible will reach out to us with a request, “Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you” (Zechariah 8:23). When that tugging happens, it will signal the beginning of a great harvest of souls.  

There is hope in our future because our hope comes from the presence of God who walks with us into uncertain times. He is our only hope for the future and in that hope, we can place our trust.

Today’s Prayer

Father,

We trust in Your promise that peace is coming, even through the trials ahead. As deception is exposed, let truth and justice prevail. Though it may seem impossible, we believe in Your power to restore safety, where the elderly walk without fear and children play in joy.

Strengthen Your Church to be a light in dark times. Let us walk in righteousness, showing mercy and kindness, so that others may see You in us and be drawn to Your presence.

You are our refuge and hope. We place our trust in You.
